Photographing Sentimental Items
This Month: Heart and Home
This Week: Minimalist Memories
Memory Magic
Letting go of sentimental items is hard because we attach memories to them.
But here is the thing, the memories are not in the objects. They are in you. The object merely triggers the memory. (Which by the way isn’t nothing!)
A powerful trick? Take a photo.
A picture keeps the memory alive without taking up physical space. You can even create a digital album just for sentimental items. That way, you honor the past without letting it clutter your present.
Now of course this doesn’t include the tactile feeling, or the smell, but its interesting to look at a photo of something like because all of those sensations rush back to you.
Today’s Tiny Step Forward
Pick one sentimental item you are struggling to let go of.
Take a clear photo of it. Save it in a digital folder labeled, “Memories”.
Now see if you feel ready to let it go. If not, that is okay. But you might be surprised at how much lighter you feel.
What item did you choose? How did it go?
Hit reply and let me know!
Also, if you’re interested in taking a brief self-assessment, here it is.

-Jimmy
