The Power of a Capsule Wardrobe
This Month: Clearing Mental Clutter
This Week: Decision Fatigue
I may not be too popular for this one, so I’ll just jump right in.
Let’s talk about closets.
Closets that we stare at endlessly thinking, “I have nothing to wear!”, even though the space is stuffed, the hangers are sagging, and a few things might even still have a price tag on it!
Enter the capsule wardrobe.
It’s a simple concept. A small collection of clothes that all work together.
Fewer options, but somehow, more outfits. It takes the decision fatigue out of getting dressed. No more digging through things you never wear. Just grab and go.
And not only does picking things to wear become easier, but it makes putting laundry away much quicker and painless. With fewer wrinkles potentially as they aren’t as crammed together. :)
Take Project 333 for example. It’s a challenge where you pick 33 items. Clothes, shoes, accessories. You wear only those for three months. People who try it say they feel lighter, happier, and somehow more stylish. (I haven’t yet tried this, but I dare say my set up is pretty close to that amount. If anyone would like to do this with me, I could use the accountability.)
But, you don’t have to go all in right away.
Start by pulling out your favorite clothes. The ones you actually wear. See what works together and let the rest take a breather.
One of my favorite tips for narrowing down your clothing is to follow this habit. If you pick up something, decide not to wear it, and reach for another similar item instead…
…go ahead and get rid of that first item.
Rinse and repeat.
Hope you’re having a great week!
Yours in Simplicity,
-Jimmy
PS - If you’re reading this, I assume you’re digging it. And if that’s the case, why not share it with someone you care about? Here’s an adorable little button to make it quick and easy…
